Beags
Hello family, it is a sad day here at our house. Beags would not eat again today and he also refused his medication and water. He was really beginning to hurt from not having his arthritis meds and it made it very hard for him to walk. He was still getting up and going outside but it was a very long and painful trip for him. He stopped wagging his tail yesterday and he seemed to not really know what was going on. We were torn between letting nature take it's course or taking him into the vet. I kept remembering the rush to the emergency vet in the middle of the night with my poor Harvey crying in pain in my lap and we decided to go ahead and take him in. The ride was uneventful, he just laid in the back with me and did not seem nervous at all (he usually goes crazy in the car) When we got there he wanted to snif and do his thing on the flowers before going in. Bob met us there so he could have some time with Beags. Bill held him in his lap and he went to meet Harvey very peacefully. He will be buried next to Harvey but we don't know when. The cemetery folks said it is too wet right now. They will keep him until the ground dries out enough and call us. The other children seem to know what happened. Shilo laid with him on his bed most of the day yesterday and kept trying to lick him well. After Beags was gone, our vet felt his stomach and said she could feel a large mass, probably a tumor. He was 91 years old, or 13 in people years and if we had known about the tumor we would not have put him through an operation anyway so I guess the way things went was best. It still is very hard to lose one of our babies. Especially one that took so much effort to catch and win over. Once he learned he was a part of our family, he was the happiest dog we had ever seen. He always walked with a smile, tail up and a bounce to his step. He seemed to lose a little of his happiness when Harv died but he was still a wonderful loving guy and we will miss him so much. I have to stop now, I am just broken hearted and I am sure I am bringing you all down with me!
