More fun in Cincinnati, OH, USA

Image
Here are a few pictures of us at the birthplace of Ulysses S. Grant and swimming at East Fork State Park. The house was really cool and there was a lookout over the Ohio River and the U.S. Grant Memorial Bridge. The park was nice and clean with a swimming beach. See you soon!

Update from Cincy

Hi Everyone! Our family's children are the cutest in the world! Owen and Wes are so cute and the photos of Liberty are too adorable! We are still in Cincinnati, having a really good time...we are looking forward to this weekend because Rick actually has Saturday and Sunday off from work--that's virtually unheard of for him! Also, our good friends Greg and Amy are coming to see us on their way to vacation in Michigan, so we are excited about that. They have kids around William and Ben's age so it should be fun... Lately we have still been seeing the sights...most recently, we went to Coney Island Park on night after Rick came home from work. It has a huge pool with water slides, etc. Next on our list is to go see a cathedral in Kentucky, it is a replica of Notre Dame and is called St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption. Here is the website so you can see it: http://www.covcathedral.com/frame1.htm We also intend to see President Grant's birthplace and the Air...

Just a few snaps from Owen's 2nd birthday. We had a great time with grandma and family, despite the heat.... Pictures of Liberty were SO worth the wait, she is absolutely adorable! Hope she has a great birthday too. All my best to Dale and Cora...get back in touch with me, cous!

Project 99% complete

Hi everyone! The home makeover is almost done. We have been working very hard! Brian's house now sports a new textured ceiling, new paint, crown moulding, new light fixtures and fans, new air conditioner registers, new over the range microwave, new kitchen cabinets, countertops, sink and faucet, tile backsplash, new bath vanity and matching medicine chest, new toilet, new ceramic tile in bathroom, oak laminate flooring, new baseboards and new window coverings! And we did it all with the exception of the ceiling in 10 days! All that remains to be done inside is touch up paint, a little caulking and transitions between the oak flooring and the carpeted bedrooms and the front and back doors. They also are taking those old utility cabinets that someone thought would make good kitchen cabinets and putting them up in the garage where they were designed to go in the first place! Now you might ask, isn't it time for Bill and I to go to Oshkosh? Well, yes, but we have to cancel our trip...

Hi Everyone! We are having a great time in Cincinnati! We have been busy seeing the sights and spending time with Rick whenever he is not working. Which is a lot..I think he gets about 4 hours of sleep a night--when he's not on call! It's crazy! So far, we have been to the Museum Center at Union Terminal, the Freedom Center, a family aquatic center, and Lookout Mountain. The museum has several museums and we have a membership so we have already been a couple of times...the children's museum is so cool, I wish we had one in Tulsa! the Freedom Center is a museum about the underground railroad which reminded me a lot of the holocaust museum in D.C. It had many interactive staions for the boys and was very educational. The pool we went to is really nice and had things for all ages so the boys really enjoyed that. The Lookout Mountain area is huge and is a really high point that overlooks the Ohio river valley and it has a nice playground and structure that reminds me of Philbro...

Pack light

Gram...well, it looks like a heat wave this weekend. Supposed to be in the 100's up here, so pack some shorts! We will try to keep the house cool, but no jogging or golf for you. That's one thing I remember about visiting Oklahoma in the summer....how hot it was outside, but walking in your house was like a wonderful frosty Blizzard (copyright DQ). See you in a few!

Catching up a little

Hi everyone! I have been so-o-o busy these past few days. I feel well but I am still blowing my nose and coughing a lot. Don't know if one round of antibiotic is going to do the trick. I need Dr Rick to tell me if I need more. Thanks Mom, I just heard you tried to bring me soup when I was sick but Bill (The Phone Nazi as he is also known)thought it would be best for you not to come by and catch my whatever. I would have liked some soup. Oh well... Anyway this weekend we started the Brian Drake Home Makeover Harrison/Drake/Walters style. The ceilings had been replaced over the past several months and this week we had them textured. Friday we tore out the old kitchen, Saturday and Sunday we put in new kitchen cabinets and countertops, painted the Living room, entry, kitchen, and hall. Installed crown moulding, new light fixtures and fans and tore out the carpet and vinyl flooring in those rooms. We had picnics of Tacos, Pizza, Fried Chicken and Doughnuts in the front yard. All this w...

Hello!

Good to hear from everyone again! Sounds like people are keeping busy. Ainslie and Rick..hope the move went well and you have fun exploring the new surroundings. Char...glad you had a nice trip. I will keep your freeway info in the back of my head for my next trip to St. Louis (haha). Hope the duckies are still around. Grandma, can't wait to see you next week! We had a fun 4th of July...went to a BBQ at our friends house with a bunch of little kids running around and having a great time. Then we all caravanned over to watch the fireworks display. They set it up over a golf course and tons of people just piled onto the fairways to watch. Owen was a little overwhelmed, and hung on tight to mom and dad. He'd peek every once in a while, but the booms were a little scary. The next morning he kept saying "works, yes" "works, green" so I guess he liked it. Wes sat snuggled up in his stroller and was totally mesmerized. I have also gotten the decorating...
