Comments

I was just wondering if everyone gets an email when someone leaves a comment to a post on the blog? I did not at first but I changed some setting somewhere and now I do and I don't remember if it was in MY PERSONAL settings or BLOG settings anyway it is nice because I don't have to go looking all down the blog to see if someone commented on something I had already read. If you don't, it is possible and can be set up. Yesterday I went back to the gym for the first time since the BIG BREAK. It was good. I went again today. I am just doing 30 minutes on the elliptical, legs only. It feels good to be back in the world. I also DROVE MYSELF! I am a little nervous about that but I don't go at busy times and stay out of heavy traffic. I am thinking of selling the Miata and getting a larger convertible that Bill can also drive since I won't be able to drive it much this spring (it's a standard). Also it would be nice to have a car I could take the kids in. I do want to g...

The Name Game

Hey Carol, nice to see you bloggin! I know you're a busy girl this time of year! I just happen to be talking to Bob on the phone when I clicked onto the blog. I am reporting for him. He likes to be called Robert in the professional world and introduces himself to clients and such as Robert. However in his personal life he feels most comfortable with friends and family addressing him in the more familiar form, Bob. There are other names we sometimes call him but I won't go into that here. You know the only real fear with the name Charlie would be the possible change over to Chuckie (woo ooh) or Chuck Chuck Bo Buck Banana Fanna Fo oops, this is a family blog. I still like Cash. I don't think you can go wrong with that one. Or Montana.. that sounds manly could be Monty. Or Dakota, maybe Kansas, Oklahoma. Just kiddin. I can't think of any new ones. We have a Ferrel in our family passed on to a girl, Ferrah. Hey how about Harley? Steven goes good with Spomer. Spooky Spomer h...

More name stuff

Hi Dalyblog people! Bob (Bobby, Robert), when was this attempt to change your moniker? I seem to remember it, but alas, I guess I never took it seriously. Do people at work, or others than family, call you Robert now, or was it a total lost cause? It took awhile, but I finally think of Chris as Christian, and it seems natural. But I like Bobs anyway. Tom's brother is another one. I did have a friend that I met many years ago who was called Kitty. Soon thereafter, she wanted to go by her full name of Kathleen. Since I hadn't known her all that long, it didn't take long to think of her as Kathleen, though all her family still call her Kitty. A mutual friend loves to tell the story of her daughter, when she was a little girl, referring to "Kitty" as "your friend, Rabbit." Well, back to work! I am ready to leave at a moment's notice to race up for the new un-named baby's birth! We are all quite excited and looking foward to meeting him. ...

So you're just waiting....

Hey Dee, sorry to hear about your high blood pressure. That's a real problem in the last stages. Take it easy and try to rest now as much as possible with the little guy, you'll be very busy soon enough! Have you decided yet on the name? It is a real big responsibility isn't it? Making sure you name them something they won't hate you for. I am so glad our mother came a few years before Summer, Winter, Flower, Sunshine, and Star. Claudia, tell us about how the old indians came up with names for their babies. You know like Running Horse and Full Moon Rising. It's about time you contribute to the blog!!!! I always had lots of names in mind when I wasn't pregnant, then when I needed them they just escaped me and I used common names that I was sure they could not fault me too much for. You know Bob and Brian were originally Matt and Mike....didn't stay that but a day or 2 before I said WHOA Hold it! I can't take that. I chose Robert and Brian so if they did n...

By the way

Nice pics from DC....you guys must have had a great time! That is one place we'd love to see someday. I especially like the picture of Jacob looking at the skeleton with his reflection in the glass...what a cool shot! Thank you, Chey, for your classmates names. There are some good ones, although it seems so much easier to name a girl. Delaney is absolutely darling and Abby is too cute. How fun it would be to have a little pink in the nursery...Ainslie, I know you are probably with me on that front.. Well, I can't remember what I posted last, but my MD took me off work early because my blood pressure was high. They are doing non-stress tests every couple of days, and the baby is doing great so they aren't too worried. How is the wrist healing, Char? Still much pain? Blog on...

Hey Ains

Looks like you guya had a great time and saw all the usual sites! I love DC, there is so much to do and see. We have a resturant here in Owasso named after the owner Tavin. That's an unusual name along the same lines as Gavin. I have guys on my hotel list for Sun N Fun named Rittner, Melbourne, Forrest, and Marcel along with all the usual Tom, Dick and Harrys. How about Simon? You could have fun playing Simon says. Chey is giving you the boys in her class names...Zachary, Braden, Justin, Perry, Brian, Jerald, Christian, Andrew and Kyle. I like Kyle for a girl. The girls names are...Delaney, Cheyanne, Bailey, Madison, Emily, Faith, Alissa and Abby. That's just in case the predictions are wrong and you are surprised with a girl, you'll have some ideas. Her favorite boy name is Isiah (?) and she also likes Aden. I am getting better every day but it still hurts!!! I guess it will be a long recovery. I had no idea how hard it is to get along without a hand! Dee I personally love...

I thought of the name!

What about Gavin? It came to me in our nation's capital...

I'm back in town

Image
Hey guys...Jacob and I are back from D.C. it was so much fun! Before I forget...how about Miles Spomer? Or Charlie? I thought of other names while I was out of town but forgot to write them down...bummer. We saw all of the sites and had a really fun time--we should all go sometime! I will attach some pictures.

Hi, it's me

Hey everyone! I went to the Dr today and they took off the cast, removed my stitches, took some xrays and said all looks good. The best thing is he gave me 2 removable splints, a short and a long arm. I get to take it off and start moving the wrist 2-4 times a day. It feels strange

Something for Char to read

OK, well I finally had a few minutes alone and caught up on reading the Daly blog..what an interesting couple of weeks! Sounds like the B-day party was fun, although the visual of Jim in the Barnes and Noble women's room was not pretty. Sorry to hear about your wrist, Char. What a complete bummer..hope recovery is swift. A good mint julep and afternoons with Oprah should help that along. Thanks for the baby name suggestions. Murray and Daly are interesting first names, but I got vetoed on both. And there are so many Murray guys, it might get confusing! And as much as I love my brother Dave, he is so unique that I couldn't possibly go that route even with a DJ nickname. Speaking of him, we saw David and Robin last week for an afternoon. He is really turning into a great Uncle to Owen. They have a blast flying like superman and chasing each other around. Gram, the name Todd is actually really nice....it was on my long list, but Scott knew a Todd in school that he did...

MORE BABY NAMES

HEY DEE, HOW'S THE NAME GAME GOING? HAVE NOT HEARD FROM YOU IN AWHILE. NOT SINCE I SUGGESTED MURRAY. I WAS THINKING THIS MORNING WHILE LYING IN BED LOOKING AT MY CAST, HOW ABOUT DAVID JAMES SPOMER AKA DJ? THERE IS NOT MUCH ACTION ON THIS BLOG. YOU GUYS NEED TO WRITE MORE AND ENTERTAIN THIS OLD LADY SITTING HERE AT HOME IN PAIN WAITING FOR BITS OF INFORMATION ON HER FAMILY. OR BYTES OF INFORMATION, HOW MANY BITS IN A BYTE? TODAY WE HAVE THE MOBILE DOG GROOMER HERE. THEY PULL UP OUT FRONT AND TAKE 2 DOGS AT A TIME. BATHE GROOM CLIP BRUSH AND DRY THEM AND BRING THEM BACK IN AND GET 2 MORE. THEY ARE TOTALLY SELF CONTAINED, NEED NO HOOKUPS. PRETTY COOL HUH? THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE'VE USED THEM. I THINK IT WILL BE MUCH BETTER THAN TRYING TO GET 6 DOGS INTO THE REGULAR GROOMERS ALTHOUGH A LITTLE MORE COST BUT PROBABLY WORTH IT ESPECIALLY WITH ME HAVING MY ARM IN A CAST. WELL, THEY JUST SENT MISSY BACK IN AND SHE IS NOT DRY. SHE'S NOT DRIPPING BUT I GUESS THEY DON'T GET THEM ...

THANK YOU JOHN

OH MY GOSH! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR OFFERING TO HELP WITH MY YARD WORK! IT IS SO KIND OF YOU BRO! I DID GET MOST OF THE SPRING CLEAN UP DONE BUT THERE IS STILL A FEW THINGS TO DO AFTER THE SPRING BLOOMS. AND OF COURSE SOON WE WILL BEGIN MOWING OUR 5 ACRES ONCE A WEEK AND YOUR LENDING A HAND WILL REALLY HELP! YES, I WILL REALLY MISS NOT BEING ABLE TO GET OUT THERE AND SWEAT THIS SPRING, BUT I'LL WATCH YOU FROM MY WINDOW AND SIP SOOTHING BEVERAGES WHILE YOU WORK. LOVE YA BRO! YOU'RE THE BEST!

I'm so sorry Charlotte

Charlotte, Sorry u had such a nasty incident, sober. Sounds like you will be recovering for awhile - don't you just hate that - especially in the spring when you would normally work in the yard and such. Hope you heal up sooner than they expect. Let me know if I can help. Brutha.

WINDHAM REUNION

LILLIE CALLED ME THIS MORNING TO SEE IF WE WERE COMING FOR THE REUNION THIS MAY 6TH. SHE REALLY WANTS US TO COME AND CAMP IN HER YARD AGAIN. THINK ABOUT IT.

THANKS MOM

HEY EVERYONE! I AM DOING OK. MOM, THE SOUP WAS GREAT AND THE INDIAN SALAD WAS WONDERFUL! WE ARE STILL EATING THE JELLO. THANK YOU SO MUCH! IT GAVE BILL A BREAK FROM FIXING A FEW MEALS. WE WENT TO RINZEYS BIRTHDAY PARTY TODAY. SHE WAS SO HAPPY TO SHOW OFF AND BE THE CENTER OF ATTENTION. SHE IS JUST TOO CUTE. IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD BEEN OUT OF THE HOUSE AND IT FELT GOOD. BUT I WAS GLAD TO GET BACK HOME AND HAD A LONG NAP. I GOT YOUR MESSAGE CAROL. YOU MUST HAVE CALLED WHEN WE WERE AT THE PARTY. WELL, I'M GOING TO CRAWL BACK INTO MY BED AND PROBABLY GO BACK TO SLEEP. LOVE YOU ALL

No Chocolate!

At least not that kind. I'm glad Bill is there to take care of you. I guess as we get older we need to be more careful . Later

LATERAL

Image
JIM, THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE CANE OFFER BUT I CAN USE ONE OF BILLS. ARE YOU STILL ENJOYING YOUR CHOCOLATES?

Where is the lateral

Mom, nice AP, where is the lateral, one view is no view. RD

That's gonna leave a mark!

Char, I hope your feeling better. Sounds like a pretty bad fall. Hang in there and take your pain killers. I only slightly fractured a wrist once and remember how bad that hurt. Did you get bumped and bruised anywhere else? If so I can whittle you a cane.

AIR TRAVEL

OOH! NOW I GET THE KINKY PAT DOWN AT THE AIRPORT ALONG WITH BILL. LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. I DID NOT JUST OPEN THE DOOR AND FALL OUT AS SOME MIGHT HAVE YOU BELIEVE. I WAS STANDING IN THE HOLE IN THE BACK OF THE QUEST THAT THE SEAT FOLDS DOWN INTO, TRYING TO FOLD THE SEAT DOWN. WHEN I REALIZED IT WAS NOT MOVING, I WENT TO STEP OUT OF THE CAR AND CAUGHT MY SHOE ON THE EDGE OF THE HOLE, LOST MY BALANCE AND PLOPPED OUT ONTO THE ASS-FAULT, CATCHING MYSELF WITH MY HANDS, AND THAT SAVED MY BUTTOCKS FROM TERRIBLE INJURY. HOWEVER, I MUST SAY I THINK THE FALL WOULD HAVE BEEN NOT SO BAD IF I HAD LET MY AMPLE BEHIND TAKE THE BRUNT OF THE FALL.

HELLO IT'S ME

Image

Oh, no!!

Charlotte, that sucks!! So sorry to hear of your woes. Please, ya'll, let us know how the surgery went... and stuff. Love ya, C

Char, how are you?

Char, How is your wrist? And more important, how are you going to blog? We will have to change your screen name to the One-Wrist Wonder. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!
Jim, what an experience! I thought you learned about that chocolate stuff back when John and friends gave it to the little girl next door. It was a fun party and a good place to have a crowd. I didn't think the food was all that good but it seemed to show up in a timely manner and those 2 girls really seemed to juggle all those orders with very few if any mess ups. John, I don't think a boy named Sparkle or Makayla would get along very well. I sure hope Dee doesn't listen to your suggestions! Kelly, that was such a cute over the hill cake and my little bite tasted very good. Of course I saved all my points up to use on my wine and left none to use on cake. Let's do start planning on some great way to celebrate the Really big birthday happening in October. Alaska cruise anyone?

Thanks

Hi everyone. I want to thank all that came to celebrate my birthday. I had a great time. The food was good and Kelly, the cake was wonderful. Also, thanks for all the cards and useful and practical gifts. Carol, thanks for thinking of me. It was good to hear from you last night. This morning I took a geritol to see if it would give me a little pep. I think it did but it might have stopped me up a little. When I got home from work I thought I’d try one of those chocolate laxatives. It was so tastee I couldn’t help but having a couple more. I then decided to check out the spray on hair to cover my balding head. I looked good but being dark brown it didn’t match my gray beard so I sprayed it there too. ‘Man’, I thought, ‘I look good’. Why have I never done this before? I was anxious to get out with my new look so I thought what the heck? I’ll just go to borders and lowes and use my gift cards. I had some over spray from the hair stuff and managed to get it all off except for a little on m...

Alla Wishes

Hello - I am giving this a try. I thought I signed on last night at home, but I don't see my user name out there. So, this is a test to see if you have to actually say something before it will show. - Here goes: Last night was really fun, but kind of crowded - Didn't realize, seems like we only had two tables up there last Sunday night. And please forgive me - you who ordered rib tips, I had planned on mentioning that Tom did not like his last weekend, but in all the craziness, I forgot to. Ten lashes with a wet noodle, as they say. Do want you to know that I reported this to the Manager and have a survey to complete by phone, where I will let them know that their rib tips are a big waste of money unless you are Jack Sprat's wife. Anyway, I hope everyone else enjoyed and will want to go back some time. I don't know why, I am not getting any kickbacks or anything, but if you don't want to go back then you didn't enjoy something, and I am one of those types (as yo...

Good Morning! I mean Afternoon!

Hi Rylie! Good blogging girl! We are going to have a great time tonight aren't we? See you all there. (I sent everyone a link to the menu for pre-planning)

Baby Names

Hey Deanna, I've been thinking about baby names. Have you ever thought of Murray Spomer? The man who built all the cabinets in our house was named Murray. At first I thought everyone was calling him by his last name because it is a last name to me of course having a sister with it as her last name, so I asked him what his first name was and he says "Murray" like I was crazy. After I started thinking of it as a first name it grew on me and since I really liked him, it became a cool first name to me. It was also a very common thing to do in families in the past. In genealogy, whenever you run across a strange first name you always use it as a clue to finding the mother's family name or another family name you may be missing. In fact our great grandmother Anna Elam who married John Daly named her youngest son Elam Daly. Hey, what about Elam Spomer? Or Daly Spomer? Or Thomas the Train Spomer? (just kiddin about the train part, William is a Thomas the train man around here...

Baby Jim bringing up the rear

So, the last one of us is reaching the top of the hill. So far it hasn't been so bad on the other side, so don't hesitate to go over. We would join you for your birthday bash if we could; if we could, we would, but we can't, so we won't. Happy Birthday, bro! Love, Carol and Tom

Jim's 50th Birthday Bash

Ok, so I could not get my siblings to go along with me on taking Jim on a cruise. Instead we are going to have a dinner in his honor, this Sunday night (after all, Sunday IS his birthday!) We are going to meet at Famous Dave's BBQ at 6:30 pm. (It is where Kodiac used to be on 71st just east of Memorial) They have an upstairs loft that Claudia has reserved for our party. She says the dinners are big enough for two people to share. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy Jim turning 50!

Is anyone having trouble but me?

Is anyone else having trouble with the blog? Like the comment window not opening? or unable to view blog rom the dashboard tab? I am trying to find out if the problem is in the blog settings or in my computer. Thanks Have a good day

Sorry guys, I know I haven't blogged in some time...what's everyone up to? I am at the hospital visiting Rick while he moonlights. He is playing with the boys. It is so warm outside, I can't believe it! My daffodils have all bloomed...weird! Let's see, what is new...the boys and I have all had colds, so I have kind of been out of touch. Jacob became a boy scout last week, so that is pretty cool! William and Benjamin are still growing as fast as they can, and are always on the move. Jacob and I leave for Washington D.C. in a couple of weeks for his 5th grade trip...it sounds really cool! We will visit no less than 30-something sites in 4 days...I'll pack plenty of Ibuprofin and good walking shoes. I'm attaching some photos of Jacob' s Scout ceremony and the boys playing outside and Rick and myself on a rare and fun evening out...I hope you enjoy! Later!

Where is everyone?

Busy guys?

IT WORKS!

It finally works! And our link section works too! I am so happy. I will go brush my teeth and shower now. Been sitting here all morning. I've been so busy with the template that I have not taken the time to welcome Aaron and to thank Dee for the yummy lasagna recipe. Can't wait to try it. We are doing great so far on our diet. It is easier than I thought. Bill is having trouble eating all his points, he is tempted to not eat as many as he is supposed to, he always does everything to overkill. But I think he will get the hang of it soon. It is much easier for me to stick with it with him along for the ride as he has enormous willpower and so he does not tempt me to cheat. All it takes for me to cheat is someone to say anything like "ice cream?" This is the first time in a long time that he has dieted non Atkins. It was really hard for me to stick with low fat whilst watching him stuffing himself with high fat foods all the time. I think this is healthier too. Spent pa...

Changing the Template

Hi guys! I am going crazy with this blog, I am learning a lot but don't know if I will remember what I learn later! Anyway I have searched help groups and tried thousands of fixes to get our sidebar back to where we need it. Nothing works so I tried changing templates again and found this one that seems to work on preview but I have been unable to see the changes myself yet. I have learned that we may not all see the same things so if you are seeing something different let me know. John, I like the first guy better than the other. The lip disk would make eating all that ice cream tough. You seem to have shocked Dee. Be careful, she is with child you know. So I am now going to publish this post and see if my changes will show up! Good morning and have a great Saturday!

7 weeks to go. I am now accepting bids for baby boy names. Can somebody please find me the perfect name (or make one up!)? All offers will be considered. Please post...thanks!

Testing

Good morning! I am trying to get our sidebars back up to the side. I removed Jim's lion roar (sorry Jim) to see if maybe that was the cause. Hang in there and keep blogging! Have fun sunbonnet Mom!

Lowfat Eggplant Parmesan

Char, I haven't figured the WW points on this, but it can't be more than 5-6 per serving. A nice alternative to lasagne that Scott actually prefers. And for those of you not sure about eggplant, give it a try...you might be surprised. Lowfat Eggplant Parmesan 1 eggplant, peeled and cut crosswise into 1/2 inch thick rounds 1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs 1/4 cup parmesan 3 eggwhites, stirred up Shredded lowfat mozarella 1 jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce Oven to 425º. Mix crumbs and parmesan. Dip eggplant rounds into egg whites then into crumb mixture and slap onto baking sheet. Cook those bad boys for 20 minutes, until a little browned. I use a square tall pyrex dish for the next step, but if you are serving more than 3-4 people, you can use a bigger baking dish and double the recipe. Then assemble the casserole like a lasagne. Sauce, eggplant, cheese...sauce, eggplant, cheese. You get the picture. Bake at 350º for another 20-30 minutes until cheese melts and the sm...

What happened to our template?

I got on this morning and our blog is messed up. Our sidebars have been moved to the bottom. Anyone know why? Jim, I sent Aaron another invite. Anyone else need another? Let me know! 93 degrees in Tulsa March 1st!!! Holy Cow! Do the Gods think this is California? I'm going to sunbathe today. Happy quilting Mom, I think I am going to work in the garden. I had planned on having the guy who mows do all the pruning and spring clean up for me but he called and said he has a tumor in his spine and is going to Phoenix to have it removed. He is bringing a friend over to take over the mowing until he gets back on his feet. It is an ependymoma, RD have you heard of that one? Claudia, put him on the prayer list, his name is Jerry Hammersley. Great guy. Any one of my kids want to do the work for me? I am getting old and my back really hurts after all the bending and stooping. My nails don't do well and my allergies really give me fits. I get bug bites and bruises and abrasions on my body t...

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Happy anniversary Claudia and Tom!!!

Jim, where are the Beatles?

Jim, I swore I heard a Beatle tune on here last night. What's happening? I read the book. The English army had just won the war. I've been counting holes all night. I guess our blog won't start archiving until we reach 31 days on our front page. I can change it to archive after a certain number of days or a certain number of posts. I have it set for 31 days but I think it will only archive stuff 31 days old and not the month all at the same time but down the road all of Feb posts will be in one archive. If you get what I'm stepping in. I am rambling on, too early for me.
