Hello everyone there in bloggerville! I think I may be on the blog thing, or maybenot. It's been a long while since I came to the site - life is too short to be so busy, or is it life's to busy to be so short? Oh well, thought I'd check in and say that it looks like the family is really booming, exponentially it seems lately.... good to hear the news - Talked with a guy about opening a hot-dog stand instead of, you know..... the other deal. That seemed like it would work - but maybenot or mayberso. There's good money in brats!
Hello everyone! What beautiful baby boys we have! Dee and Ainslie, thanks for keeping us in pictures of our little gentlemen! They are so adorable! Sorry I have not had time to write lately but obviously I am not the only one who is busy. I am not sure when I wrote last but I'll report on my last trip. On a Wednesday afternoon I loaded up Cheyanne and Rylie and we took off driving to Eureka, MO where we stopped at the Days Inn (I don't recommend it) the girls hit the swimming pool and then fell fast asleep. The next morning we had McDonald's breakfast and were at the gate of Six Flags when they opened. We stayed and played until they closed at six pm when we went to St Louis Bread for dinner then back to the hotel to swim until Grandma was so tired they took pity on me and we all crashed. The next morning we headed to St Louis and The Magic House Children's Museum where we stayed most of the day. It was great fun and I think the girls enjoyed it every bit as much as Six...

More fun in Cincinnati, OH, USA

Image
Here are a few pictures of us at the birthplace of Ulysses S. Grant and swimming at East Fork State Park. The house was really cool and there was a lookout over the Ohio River and the U.S. Grant Memorial Bridge. The park was nice and clean with a swimming beach. See you soon!

Update from Cincy

Image
Hi Everyone! Our family's children are the cutest in the world! Owen and Wes are so cute and the photos of Liberty are too adorable! We are still in Cincinnati, having a really good time...we are looking forward to this weekend because Rick actually has Saturday and Sunday off from work--that's virtually unheard of for him! Also, our good friends Greg and Amy are coming to see us on their way to vacation in Michigan, so we are excited about that. They have kids around William and Ben's age so it should be fun... Lately we have still been seeing the sights...most recently, we went to Coney Island Park on night after Rick came home from work. It has a huge pool with water slides, etc. Next on our list is to go see a cathedral in Kentucky, it is a replica of Notre Dame and is called St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption. Here is the website so you can see it: http://www.covcathedral.com/frame1.htm We also intend to see President Grant's birthplace and the Air...

Etc.

Just a few snaps from Owen's 2nd birthday. We had a great time with grandma and family, despite the heat.... Pictures of Liberty were SO worth the wait, she is absolutely adorable! Hope she has a great birthday too. All my best to Dale and Cora...get back in touch with me, cous!

Project 99% complete

Hi everyone! The home makeover is almost done. We have been working very hard! Brian's house now sports a new textured ceiling, new paint, crown moulding, new light fixtures and fans, new air conditioner registers, new over the range microwave, new kitchen cabinets, countertops, sink and faucet, tile backsplash, new bath vanity and matching medicine chest, new toilet, new ceramic tile in bathroom, oak laminate flooring, new baseboards and new window coverings! And we did it all with the exception of the ceiling in 10 days! All that remains to be done inside is touch up paint, a little caulking and transitions between the oak flooring and the carpeted bedrooms and the front and back doors. They also are taking those old utility cabinets that someone thought would make good kitchen cabinets and putting them up in the garage where they were designed to go in the first place! Now you might ask, isn't it time for Bill and I to go to Oshkosh? Well, yes, but we have to cancel our trip...

Hi Everyone! We are having a great time in Cincinnati! We have been busy seeing the sights and spending time with Rick whenever he is not working. Which is a lot..I think he gets about 4 hours of sleep a night--when he's not on call! It's crazy! So far, we have been to the Museum Center at Union Terminal, the Freedom Center, a family aquatic center, and Lookout Mountain. The museum has several museums and we have a membership so we have already been a couple of times...the children's museum is so cool, I wish we had one in Tulsa! the Freedom Center is a museum about the underground railroad which reminded me a lot of the holocaust museum in D.C. It had many interactive staions for the boys and was very educational. The pool we went to is really nice and had things for all ages so the boys really enjoyed that. The Lookout Mountain area is huge and is a really high point that overlooks the Ohio river valley and it has a nice playground and structure that reminds me of Philbro...

Pack light

Gram...well, it looks like a heat wave this weekend. Supposed to be in the 100's up here, so pack some shorts! We will try to keep the house cool, but no jogging or golf for you. That's one thing I remember about visiting Oklahoma in the summer....how hot it was outside, but walking in your house was like a wonderful frosty Blizzard (copyright DQ). See you in a few!

Catching up a little

Hi everyone! I have been so-o-o busy these past few days. I feel well but I am still blowing my nose and coughing a lot. Don't know if one round of antibiotic is going to do the trick. I need Dr Rick to tell me if I need more. Thanks Mom, I just heard you tried to bring me soup when I was sick but Bill (The Phone Nazi as he is also known)thought it would be best for you not to come by and catch my whatever. I would have liked some soup. Oh well... Anyway this weekend we started the Brian Drake Home Makeover Harrison/Drake/Walters style. The ceilings had been replaced over the past several months and this week we had them textured. Friday we tore out the old kitchen, Saturday and Sunday we put in new kitchen cabinets and countertops, painted the Living room, entry, kitchen, and hall. Installed crown moulding, new light fixtures and fans and tore out the carpet and vinyl flooring in those rooms. We had picnics of Tacos, Pizza, Fried Chicken and Doughnuts in the front yard. All this w...

Hello!

Good to hear from everyone again! Sounds like people are keeping busy. Ainslie and Rick..hope the move went well and you have fun exploring the new surroundings. Char...glad you had a nice trip. I will keep your freeway info in the back of my head for my next trip to St. Louis (haha). Hope the duckies are still around. Grandma, can't wait to see you next week! We had a fun 4th of July...went to a BBQ at our friends house with a bunch of little kids running around and having a great time. Then we all caravanned over to watch the fireworks display. They set it up over a golf course and tons of people just piled onto the fairways to watch. Owen was a little overwhelmed, and hung on tight to mom and dad. He'd peek every once in a while, but the booms were a little scary. The next morning he kept saying "works, yes" "works, green" so I guess he liked it. Wes sat snuggled up in his stroller and was totally mesmerized. I have also gotten the decorating...

She's baaaaack!!!!!

Hello! I'm back! Not only from my trip, which was fun I might add, but I am back to the blog! I have no idea what happened but for the past several weeks I have been unable to get to the blog as we all see it. All I could see was mumbo jumbo computerease. No background, no sidebars, nothing but a lot of letters, symbols and the occasional recognizable name. When I have had some time I have tried to find the answer to my dilemma but never had. So this morning I decided to check and see if I could figure it out and lo and behold, THERE WAS THE BLOG IN ALL IT'S GLORY! Our trip to Urbana was very nice. Bill has finally learned to slow down and enjoy the trip for the trip's sake and not plow down the highway like he's racing from a fire! We drove from here to Rolla, MO the first day and stopped for the evening. Had a nice dinner and relaxed. The next morning we drove on to Urbana taking the southern route around St Louis. WOW what a difference! I have been going north every ...

Long lost family member checking in

Hi everyone. It's been so long, I almost forgot how to blog. It seems strange to think of Rick and his family not being in Tulsa! I wish you all well in Cincinnati. I think it will be such a great experience....one of my dear friends here is from Cincinnati, and she is always nostalgic for it. She says it is a very nice city, with a lot of attractions. However, my Jim was there with his hockey team, and those kids went to town for a good time, and he said it was scary! So, I guess it has everything to offer. It sounds like you are just staying for the summer and then coming back to Tulsa for school?? No one will have time to visit you there! So it will be up to you to tell us all about it. The pictures are so cute...is that Peanut, or ??? Kelly, ya'll have been busy, sounds like fun. Did Ry get to fly yet? Best of luck in the Teacher's competition, will be pulling for you! Imagine, my niece, who used to play on the swingset in my backyard and do her cheerleadi...

Hi everyone! Just a little blog to keep you posted on the happenings in my family. We are now under the one week mark for Rick's departure to Cincinnati on June 28th...we will follow a week later on July 5th. The kids and I will stay for 6 weeks before returning for the start of the school year. We are all excited to see a new city! I will blog from afar to let you know what wonderous sights we behold! Here are a few recent pictures of the boys and of the pond-record challenger catfish caught by Brian last weekend...hope to hear from you soon! Ainslie

What happened?

Hey, what happened to everyone??? Gimme something to read! Here is my input for the day (This is a real word!): pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, noun (NOO-muh-noh-UL-truh-MY-kruh-SKOP-ik-SIL-i-koh-VOL-kay-no-koh-NEE-o-sis, nyoo-) A lung disease caused by inhaling fine particles of silica. [From New Latin, from Greek pneumono- (lung) + Latin ultra- (beyond, extremely) + Greek micro- (small) + -scopic (looking) + Latin silico (like sand) + volcano + Greek konis (dust) + -osis (condition).] Even though we have included the pronunciation of this word, we advise caution lest you may have to avail the services of an otorhinolaryngologist (a throat, nose, and ear specialist). At 45 letters, it's the longest word in any English language dictionary. It's a trophy word -- its only job is to serve as the longest word. In day-to-day use, its nine-letter synonyms "silicosis" or "black lung" work just as well, and the latter is more descriptive.

Blog problems!

Hey Dee, I love the picture! You should enter it in some kind of photo contest. That is so cute about Owen and the Owl. Ooh, I feel a children's book idea, at least that would make a good title! Yesterday I spent 30 minutes typing my blog and updating you all with what I've been doing and then I tried to add some photos and poof, it all just vanished! I don't think I want to sit here and go through all that again so I'll give you the short version. We went to Waco, TX for our oldest grandson's graduation from Baylor. Had a good visit with Catherine and her family. We also went cemetery hunting and found the graves of Bill's great grandparents. It has made me hot to do more genealogy. Chey's room is finished, she says she feels like a princess. She was speechless with delight when she finally saw it. She has been waiting since I broke my arm in March to get her Birthday surprise of new bedroom decor. I guess she was not disappointed. I have never seen her so ...

Our cat

Image
This is our indoor cat...there is a little story behind the big plastic owl. Our inlaws have fake owl in their yard to scare away the crows and vermin. Well, Owen took a liking to that owl, and would always pick it up and carry it around while at their house. So my MIL decided to get Owen his very own big plastic owl. It is now his favorite "toy" which he treats like a stuffed animal. Carries it everywhere we'll let him. Wanted to take it to daycare last week and to the store yesterday. "Beak" "eyes" "wings" "claws" ....every owl part he names, over and over! LOVES IT. You just never know what they will attach to. Anyways, the owl is now working overtime because there is some crazy loud squaking bird that sits on our BBQ right outside the sliding glass window and taunts our poor cat. (And drives us batty...I don't know what kind of bird it is, but gawd, it's annoying!) So I set up the owl to help him out a little...

Okay People...

10 days and nary a blog ...what have we come to? Okay, I know I have been neglectful too, but we must blog on! Here's the low down on the fam and what we are up to: Jacob is leaving tonight for a Boy Scout campout in the Great Salt Plains region of Oklahoma. They will also tour the Alabaster Caverns...he will be back on Sunday...bummer. But, he will have fun and hopefully will not get dehydrated--it's going to be 95 degrees...yikes! William is trying to go on the potty full time...and is doing pretty well. He is also having fun playing with all of his Thomas stuff from his birthday! Benjamin started singing along with his cartoon today...he was very serious...trying to hit all of the notes and kind of growling along--it was really funny! Rick is working but should be home in a while the countdown is on until we go to Cincinnati on July1. I have found a bunch of cool museums and historical sites for us to visit... I am just getting ready for summer and getting ready to have a be...

can't post pics

not sure why it wouldn't let me post my pics! any ideas?

4 weeks already!

Just had a few minutes to blog, so here goes....Scott took Owen to the park and Wes is on the tail end of a nap in his swing. I can't believe its been 4 weeks already since being a family of 4. Last week was my first week when I had both boys by myself all day long. It was not as bad as I thought, just a few tense moments where both were crying at the same time and also Owen has figured out that he has more time to get into things while I am nursing. But overall, its been OK. Wes hasn't figured out how to sleep too well at night yet. We've had several nights where he's up at 1:00, 3:00 and 5:00 am. wailing for some sustenance. And with burping, changing and rocking, it's usually at least an hour awake each time. You can do the math on how much sleep we're getting! Ugh. On an bright note, last night he slept from 9:30 pm until 3:00 am, which is a huge stretch for him, so relief may be in sight. This boy grunts and moans alot, even when asleep. It took...

Rainy Saturday

Hello guys. It is a rainy day here in Owasso. We started out the day standing in the rain on Main Street watching the parade in which our own Teacher of the Year rode by along with Rylie and Chey, in a convertible tossing candy at us! Then we took Chey home and went to Attwoods where we have been every Saturday morning since we got our ducks. Had to pick up some pine shavings to spread around for them to poop on. Then we came home and spread the pine, washed our hands and had some lunch. Tonight we go to William's 3rd birthday party! It will be the highlight of the weekend! Right about now you are saying to yourselves "boy those 2 really live an exciting life" Yes, we do. Yesterday we went to Bixby to meet some friends for lunch and then to Collinsville to the Thomas Train store for William's birthday gift. Then we came home and I cleaned out the garage while Bill mowed the field out front and the ducks swam in the wading pool out back. Then I walked the ducks back in...

Hi Everyone!

Hey guys, what has been going on? Not much here, except Jacob was home all weekend with bronchitis...so he had to miss on of his boy scout campouts. He was really bummed out, but at least he had a good reason to stay out of all that rain! William has an ear infection in both ears, but is slowly getting better...and Ben is okay with just a runny nose, but he is none the less pretty mad about it. Rick returned late Saturday night from his course in Boston at Harvard Medical School. He said the campus was awesome. I told him to look for Matt Damon of Good Will Hunting fame...but he just saw a but of smart looking people, I think. He went to the Cheers bar and had a goood time. I am trying to clean out closets and count down to July 1, when we report to Cincinnati, OH. I am also preparing for William's 3rd birthday this Saturday, can you believe it? I have to light the candle in my kitchen 20 times a day so he can blow it out to practice for his birthday cake...well gotta run must clea...
Wow Mom, it sounds like you have had a busy time! You lead such an active busy life, I don't know where you get your energy! I just seem to muddle through several projects everyday, not finishing any of them and then collapse after dinner like I worked a full day. Today I get my hair done, and I need to return a curtain to Target and get another one. I bought 2 for the computer room to see which one I liked. I also need to go to the Home Decorators Store and finish an order I started last week. We are getting a small table and chairs for the hearth room. We got a new round rug for it last week. My housekeeper comes on Monday so it is a good day to get out and run errands. John, I have been carrying those calendars around in my car for months. I need to get them to you. Jim, you can have some more too if you want. There are plenty. Dale and Chris might like another. My ducks are looking very scraggly, half down and a few feathers here and there. The bigger they get the more they poo...

Beags

Hello family, it is a sad day here at our house. Beags would not eat again today and he also refused his medication and water. He was really beginning to hurt from not having his arthritis meds and it made it very hard for him to walk. He was still getting up and going outside but it was a very long and painful trip for him. He stopped wagging his tail yesterday and he seemed to not really know what was going on. We were torn between letting nature take it's course or taking him into the vet. I kept remembering the rush to the emergency vet in the middle of the night with my poor Harvey crying in pain in my lap and we decided to go ahead and take him in. The ride was uneventful, he just laid in the back with me and did not seem nervous at all (he usually goes crazy in the car) When we got there he wanted to snif and do his thing on the flowers before going in. Bob met us there so he could have some time with Beags. Bill held him in his lap and he went to meet Harvey very peacefully...

Spys

I am sooo glad to hear one of us sent the info in. I was feeling a little weird about the Hale Alumni Spys watching us all from afar! Kelly is going to send in her article (as soon as it comes out) but if she does not do it promptly I will do it for her! We are trying to decide what to do about Beags. He is very disoriented today and refuses to eat. Bill is sick with a cold or flu and this is really getting him down. Beags does not seem to be in any pain, he just seems like a zombie dog. I am supposed to go shopping and to lunch with 2 friends today, yes I really have 2 friends, but don't know if I should. I'll update you all later.

Hale website

Wow, that is cool, I wonder where they get their info from. Kelly was going to send the article that will come out in the Tulsa World sometime in the next few weeks to the alumni association but they must have somebody searching for information on people all the time. I wonder how long it has been on there. It must have gone on before she won District Teacher of the Year since it doesn't say anything about that AND they spelled her name wrong! Anyway, that's neat, thanks for letting us know.

Daly Family Blog

If you check out the Hale Alumni website, Kelly has been added for her teacher of the year accomplishments :)

Hello

Hi guys, no one is posting much. I have had a busy past two days. Yesterday I came into the computer room and there were framed photos broken and scattered all over the room! Then I saw that the cornice board had fallen off the window right down on top of my computer monitor. It was smashed! (I don't suppose there are any salvageable parts Jim?) So Bill and I went out on a hunt for a new monitor only to come home with a TiVo also. I was totally crazy trying to get it hooked up when our friends Kent and Lisa came out to go to dinner with us. Bob came over and hooked it up while we went to dinner taking Cheyanne along to keep the Faith's little boy Kade company at dinner. Today I have been busy trying to figure out TiVo. I was told that with TiVo you could record all the shows you want to watch even if they are on at the same time. But now that we bought one I find that is not the case. Unless I am misunderstanding. Does anyone know? Also trying to figure out what I am going to d...

Here are a few pictures of the family on Easter...

Pictures

That Owen is so cute! He reminds me so much of Craig when he was a baby. All that blonde hair and those huge blue eyes! This family has the prettiest kids in the world! Thay are all adorable! Thanks for the Catty Ainslie. I tried to get Jim to take him home for supper but he left him for someone else to catch. Carol, I fixed your problem for you. I had the same trouble yesterday when I posted my pics. I found if I floated them to the center they came out better. Next time when posting click on the center instead of left. Good Morning Family! I should have said that first but I'm slow today. Heading into town to have a manicure and pedicure among other errands that HAVE to get done! Blog on folks! Love ya!

Hello family, thought I'd post a few of the pics I got back from Reasors this week. I also wanted to post the Easter pictures I scanned for Ainslie but I think I did something wrong and they will not post. I think I need to rescan them so Ainslie if you're reading, I need to borrow your pics to scan again. We are still waiting on the cattywampus pictures too! Dee that is a very adorable baby! I want to hold him! How are things going? Are you able to rest at all? It is hard to believe it is almost the weekend again! My gosh where did the week go? This year is just flying by I can not believe it. How can we slow things down? Do we want to have a second annual Daly family camping trip? I have it on the schedule for labor day weekend again. Any thoughts? I also have heard about a place near Hot Springs where we could rent houseboats by the week. That would be cool. adding one last picture of my babies
